"You need to know how much you inspire us."

I made sure to take a mental snapshot around 9:30 this morning. I experienced "one of those magical moments" in the classroom that I'll never forget.

As I dismissed my students to move onto their next class, one of my 12 year old boys walked up to me. Amidst the craziness in the room, he began speaking: "I know we've been talking a lot about inspiration in Advisory lately, and I've been trying to let specific people in my life know how much they've inspired me. I just wanted to let you know that you have inspired me so much this year. Last year, I had an awful experience in my ELA class and you've completely changed that this year. Thank you for being such a great teacher and for teaching us so much. You need to know how much you inspire us."

He turned red from pouring his heart out and I turned red from blushing! It was so heartfelt, so sweet and it was such a sincere vow of appreciation. It simply swept me off my feet. This small moment made my week year and those words will forever be ingrained in my memory.
