It's amazing how music is such a huge part of our lives. Most of us hear or listen to it nearly every day and it greatly affects the mood we're experiencing. I'll never forget working at the Gap when I was in high school. They stressed the importance of playing upbeat, positive, and fun music for customers to listen to; it makes people happy and they want to stay and shop more! Have you ever paid attention to this when shopping? Music is a powerful tool!
Music definitely sets the tone for my day. I love listening to music and incorporate it into my day whenever possible. If I'm at home, I'll listen to music when I'm cooking, cleaning, or grading papers. I always listen to music when I'm in the car, on my way to work and on my way home. I also listen to it in school. Sometimes, I have it playing when the kids walk into my classroom in the morning. I have it on during my prep period, as well. The genre of music that I listen to often varies depending on the mood I'm in.
I'm sure you have "go-to" songs that lift you up and make you insanely happy. Two songs that are very popular right now and that I love listening to are: Happy by Pharrell Williams and Best Day of My Life by American Authors. They both turn my mood around completely. Irritable to happy. Happy to happier! :-) I'm hearing these more and more on the radio now, which is awesome! Both songs came on in the classroom the other day and the kids could barely contain themselves. :-)
