Besides felt tip pens, my favorite writing tool is actually a pencil! I definitely prefer to use mechanical pencils, but love using an ordinary #2 pencil too! It's hard to find really cute pencils without spending a pretty penny. A quick swash of Washi tape can take the ordinary and boring pencil to flashy and FUN immediately! You can make a variety of pencils to match your style!
You all know that I have a new obsession with Washi tape, as I blogged about it here and here in March. I stare at the gorgeous collection of tape on my desk each day and scan my room and closet for things that I can pretty up! Well... today it was pencils!
I sharpened some of my ordinary #2 yellow pencils and began the following process (some people spray paint them white so that the yellow doesn't peek through!):
1- Cut a length of tape a little longer than the pencil.2- Starting towards the eraser end of the pencil, stick on the piece of tape aligning the straight edge with the metal part of the pencil. Smooth down the length of the pencil.3- Repeat steps 1 & 2 with a second piece of tape, lining up the patterns as best as you can.4- Once the pencil is covered, carefully tear the end of the tape on the sharpened end of the pencil. Tear so the length is just past the painted portion of the pencil. If you need to sharpen the pencil, peel back the end of the tape, sharpen the pencil and stick the tape back down - tear to shorten if needed.
I love how cute these look on my desk and they really look adorable inside my mason jar!
These are so cute! I need to do this with my plain, boring pencils. Thanks for linking up with Hump Day Happenings!
