Bringing the Beach Home With Me!

I'm a beach girl. I just love everything about the ocean and would spend most of my days there, if possible. Whenever I visit the beach, my mind, body, and soul are instantly relaxed within seconds. I feel calm. I feel peaceful. The soothing sound of waves crashing and seagulls in the distance do it for me every time.  Nothing beats the salty aromatic sea air in my nose. AhSerenity

The most memorable moments of my life were experienced near the water. My husband and family know how to steal my heart in that way. I got engaged in a hotel room overlooking the beach, my bridal shower was at a beautiful restaurant on the lake with charming boats and fishermen in the distance, and I got married on Glen Island with sailboats passing by during our ceremony. Absolute perfection.

I've been known to take the beach home with me since I was a little girl. My sister and I would scour the shoreline, searching for the best shells for hours. We would come home and create crafts, or signature mementos, of our time at the beach.

I still do that today. I always want the summer beach escape to last long past the dates circled on my calendar. I spent hours on my honeymoon searching for the best shells, driftwood, pebbles, white sand, and shiny rocks to take home. I made a beach vase with these items to savor the fragrance, textures, and summer colors of Turks and Caicos. I also used these items to make Christmas ornaments... anything to give me that little reminder of that gorgeous and tranquil summer escape.

My next project will involve making a Honeymoon Beach Memory Jar. I'm inspired by this photo from Pinterest, showcasing a few small photos inside. What a beautiful idea!

Do you take the beach home with you?

  1. I love the beach and definitely don't go there enough considering I live 30 minutes from it! Thanks for sharing with Hump Day Happenings.
