High Five for Friday: Welcome Back to School!

I'm so happy that Friday is finally here! With the new school year starting, I plan to go back to my High Five for Friday posts to reflect on my week. We officially started school with our new students on Tuesday and it was a HOT week!

1. First Day of School... on the HOTTEST day of the year! I'll never forget the feeling of soaking up those last few minutes of sleep in bed, while the news on TV blared, "Today will be the hottest day of the year. Stay in the air conditioning and stay cool!" Choosing a "First Day of School" outfit is always fun, but this year was SO different. I knew that anything I chose to wear wouldn't keep me cool enough. We survived the day though and it was a great day overall... despite the heat! :-)

2. Meeting my new students. As a student, I always worried the night before school. What will my new teacher be like? Will she make me feel safe and clam or anxious and worried? Will I like my classroom? As a teacher, I still get anxious and nervous for the first day of school. What will be new students be like? Will they like my classroom? Did I plan enough activities for the first day?  It was a lot of fun getting to know my new students this week and I have a feeling that we're going to have a great year. This week has been a HUGE breath of fresh air.

3. Chatting with teacher friends and family about their first week. "Good luck" texts in the morning and "How did it go?" texts in the afternoon. Catching up with everyone this week, especially my sister-in-law, who started her first year of teaching, was exciting. The first few days are always tough and it's always comforting to swap and share stories.

4. Surviving the back-to-school routine. Outfit and shoes are picked out. Lunch is packed. Breakfast on the road is ready to go. Getting back into the school routine is hard! I was able to successfully jump back into it this week, but I'm not a morning person and I try to do most of that stuff at night.

5. Ending the week with a doctor appointment for the baby! Our anatomy scan went great and we are truly blessed! I love staring at the screen, watching the baby's heart beat really fast and counting it's fingers and toes. Sometimes it's still hard to believe that something is growing inside of me! I hate waiting four weeks between appointments. Grow baby, grow! Prayers for good health, always.

We are linking up with Lauren Elizabeth this week! Head on over for more awesome stuff!
