I had two girlfriends from work over tonight for appetizers and drinks. It was so nice to have them over and just chat about things related to work...and things unrelated to work. The picture above was taken while I was getting ready for their arrival. The food was good, drinks were great, but the company was even better.
When you start working, you're young and in this new stage of life. Everyone is getting settled into their career and trying to figure out their place in life. As you have more time into your job (new teachers...I'm talking to you), you find that there are people you work with who will probably become your closest friends. The friends who you think about, and you can't imagine how you made it through life before you met them. These girls are those friends. I'm not going to name them; they know who they are. But they have been there through the ups and downs of my life, and have been the voices of reason, and the ear to listen when I needed them.
Tonight was their first visit to my new place, and they loved it. It was so nice to chat over a glass of wine and snacks, and relax. It was our version of the Super Bowl, without the sports. :)
I've learned that things happen in life, and while you're going through them, you can't quite seem to understand why...but looking back, everything seems so clear, and I'm so thankful that through two very trying times in my life, both professionally, I gained two very special friends.
